New life is happening right in my own backyard. I’m choosing to see this as a sign, as a metaphor of the new life that I came here to start… #newbeginnings #newlife #nature #robinsnest #robinseggs #nofilter

Finding My Wings

This was a post I made from one year ago and at the time I had hardly an inkling of what new life I was entering into. And now here I am in a new place yet again seeing the beauty of the new life I came here to start.

Like those robin eggs, a year ago I was just breaking out of my shell. I was in the perfect place at that time to learn to fly. I needed the anonymity of a large center in order to find my wings. The only problem was that I wasn’t making a difference. I need to live where I am having an impact on others.

Sometimes you have to choose between planting roots and growing wings

Planting Roots

Now that I have found my wings the universe has shown me that it’s time to plant some roots. And it would seem that I am to plant where my roots began, back in my hometown.

A while back I wrote a post titled When you know you can’t go home, where I explained the reasons I could never live in a small town again. And yet, here I am doing just that! I’ve returned to my hometown – population approximately 5000. A place where nothing much happens on Sunday besides nursing a hangover or going to church. Surprisingly I’m loving it! I’ve connected and/or reconnected with some of the most beautiful souls. Plus our family is in a space where we can truly make an impact.

Making a Difference

I am passionate about raising awareness and acceptance for the LGBTQ community and where better place to start than where my story began. I’m looking forward to making a difference in my children’s school and in the community by starting a QSA but even more importantly by just being seen and recognized as a human with a heart and soul that by far encompasses who I am than the body you view and choose to make your assumptions by.

I need to be where I’m making a difference
